Last Friday night Te Waka Whakapono, our Kapa Haka, performed at their first competition. We competed in the senior bracket of Tūhono festival, against 5 other kura. Our performance was made up of three items Waiata Tira (Choral), Waiata a-ringa (Action Song), and Haka.

We have been rehearsing hard for months now, and our hard work paid off as we won something for each of our items! We got second place in the Waiata Tira, second for our Waiata a-ringa, and we won best Haka. We now start to prepare for regionals next term, and have a number of performances in the holidays.
