CURRENT STAFF VACANCIES

Religious Education Teachers (Special Character positions): two fixed-term roles;  suitable for beginning teachers

Position 1: fixed-term, full-time for Term 2 2025 (refreshment leave position)

Position 2:  fixed-term, part-time release teacher position (0.2 FTTE) from March 2025 - 26 October 2025;  to be worked over more than one day per week, with the opportunity for additional hours

We are seeking two Religious Education teachers to join our kura in fixed-term positions during 2025.     As these are Special Character positions, a willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the College is a condition of employment.  We welcome applications from beginning teachers.

Teacher Aide for 2025 school year (up to two positions) - advertised on Seek in February 2025


Catholic Cathedral College is a Special Character, co-educational college with over 500 students from Year 7 to Year 13, situated in central Christchurch.  We are seeking energetic, caring, organised and motivated Teacher Aides to join our team for the remainder of the 2025 school year.

The successful candidate will support student learning and contribute positively to our school community.   Experience working with students with learning differences would be an advantage, and the ability to provide clear and concise communications to students is required.

This is a fixed-term, part-time position, for up to 26.5 hours per week, with work between the hours of 8 30 am and 3 pm (see details in our letter of introduction), term time only.

Employment Agreement:  Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement;  Teacher Aide Grade B/C.   The position is fixed-term for reasons of recruitment, and due to specific student funding.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in Aotearoa New Zealand, and police vetting will be undertaken for the successful applicant.

Relief Teachers

We are looking for qualified teachers to join our pool of day-to-day relief teachers to start immediately, all subjects.

Previous experience working in a Special Character school or kura is an advantage but not a prerequisite.

Must be available at short notice and readily able to be contacted by phone.
